A Little About Us at Miller Creek Standard Poodles

Here at Miller Creek Standard Poodles, we do more than just raise exceptional poodles—we also run a small farm. My love for animals began early in life and led me to a career as a veterinary technician after high school. I spent many years as the sole technician at a small animal clinic, where I had the opportunity to do everything from assisting in exams and performing dental cleanings to running lab work, taking X-rays, and assisting with surgeries. I stepped away from that chapter of my life when I became pregnant with my first child.

That hands-on veterinary experience continues to play a big role in our breeding program. It’s given me not only a strong foundation, but also a deep understanding of what it takes to raise healthy, confident, well-socialized puppies.

In addition to our beloved poodles, we share our lives with two rescue dogs and a lively farm full of animals—including about 50 chickens, 9 dairy goats, a horse, and a thriving garden that helps feed our family. We also raise meat chickens and strive to eat as sustainably as possible by consuming what we grow.

Summertime is especially busy on the farm, as we focus on harvesting and preserving as much produce as we can, as well as milking our goats every single day.

Our teen boys stay busy with all the hands-on stuff around the farm—building things, fixing fences, running the tractor, mowing, and helping process chickens. Meanwhile, our daughter has become quite the little farmer and dog trainer. She’s super involved with the puppies and has a huge passion for animals, just like I do. She’s already set on becoming a veterinarian one day!
